Archery and Tree Climbing at Val de Bonnal - Al Fresco Holidays

Alex tells us about his adventures up in the trees and on the Val de Bonnal archery range.

Archery and Tree Climbing

The pool and the lake are good fun, but nothing tops the activities that are on offer at Val de Bonnal. Isabella’s told you about the canoeing, but my favourites have been archery and tree climbing.

Tree climbing was a fun experience but was also challenging in some parts. There was a mix of obstacles set about four metres up in the trees consisting of wobbly log bridges, ladders, zip lines, a terrifying wire bridge and a sloping zip wire to finish it off.

Robin Hood fans should pay close attention to the next part, as it is to do with – yes, you guessed it – archery. This is suitable for all ages as the instructor explains it very carefully and also has small bows for children. We all started off just shooting at the targets and recording our scores, but after a while we played a game called crazy colours. The instructor had various pieces of coloured paper in his pocket to match the coloured rings on the target. Whichever colour he pulled out was the colour we had to aim for, and for each colour you hit correctly, you got two points. And while I didn’t get the highest score in our group, overall I’d give the activities at Val de Bonnal10/10!
