Summer Games at Les Mediterranees - Thomson Al Fresco Blog
Hello! I’m Marianne and I’m currently training for the role of Activity Representative in Les Mediterranees, a campsite on the sunny coast of Languedoc.
I can definitely see the appeal of a holiday here as Marseillan Plage (the small town a short stroll away from the campsite) is geared up for tourists with lots of gift shops, restaurants, bars and summer clothes boutiques and the site is lucky enough to lead directly onto a stunning, sandy, blue flag beach.
The on-site bar, pool and shops make staying here easy and relaxed and there’s certainly no shortage of things to do in the local region either; wine tasting, local music festivals, city trips to Carcassonne, the water park, cycling and water sports are just a few of the excursions available.
Walking around the campsite, there’s a really relaxed, friendly, international vibe and I keep having to remind myself that I’m not here on holiday (I wish!) but to learn about the job.
So, my main responsibility will be to organise the Summer Games! Al Fresco are celebrating the Olympics Games 2012 by running on-site sports days and summer fêtes so that families who come can spend some time together and have fun.
I predict that the Summer Games will be a highlight of their stay because kids, teens, parents and grandparents can get involved in the activities, ranging from the silly; welly tossing, water bombing, and crazy obstacle courses, to the more competitive; football tournaments, races and quizzes.
The aim is very simple: to provide an opportunity for families to have fun together, and I’m looking forward to joining in!
