We’ve loved hearing about your children’s travels, the countries they have visited and the things you have all been getting up to on your holidays. However, we aren’t the ones kids need to impress – our judges are the ones they need to wow!

As we are so nice at Al Fresco HQ, here’s the low down on our judges and some hints and tips to give them a helping hand.

Judge One – Rhonda Carrier – Take The Family

Rhonda works for leading site Take The Family and knows all about the best places to take children for a great trip or day out. She’s really excited about being on the judging panel and she is looking for:

“What I’d like to see in entries is a genuine enthusiasm for a place or a holiday that immediately makes me want to pack my bags and take my own children there. That, in a nutshell, should be what all travel writing should be ‘about’ – evoking a sense of place so strong and alluring that you long to be there discovering it for yourself.”

Judge Two – Ashley Gibbins, The International Travel Writers Alliance

Ashley is the Chief Executive of leading travel body, the International Travel Writers Alliance, so is used to dealing with people writing about foreign destinations and countries. He is delighted to be on board and is looking for:

“I am looking for a really good story. Something that creates a strong visual picture bringing each aspect of the holiday to life, making myself and the reader wish we were there!”

So there you have it – some top tips from our esteemed judges. Has it made your kids want to pen a story about a recent trip they’ve been on? Just a few weeks to go, so get them writing and who knows they might win a family holiday this Summer.
