Grande Metairie – a young artist’s impression - Al Fresco Holidays

This blog was sent in by the family of an obviously very talented daughter. (See her painting below.)

“Camping at La Grande Métairie near Carnac was our first Al Fresco holiday and was fantastic. There were eight in our party (four adults & four children, ages 12, 10, 10, 9) and we all had a ball. Even though the weather during our stay was not brilliant, the kids always found their way to the park and pool, and not a moment’s enjoyment was lost.

During some of the quieter moments, when she wanted to escape the hustle and bustle of the pool and the park, our younger daughter, Kirsty, aged 9, would occupy herself on the decking, painting. The campsite was excellent and the pool and surrounding facilities superb. The Al Fresco mobile home was very clean and well equipped with everything we might need, including a barbeque which we used no less than eight times. The location of the mobile homes was good – close enough to access all the facilities but far enough away for the peace and quiet we adults sometimes yearn.

In the evenings, in and around the main bar there was plenty of entertainment including karaoke, live concerts and a circus every Sunday. We tried the campsite’s dare-devil “Forêt Adrenaline” course & zip line. It was excellent.

La Grande Met has wifi internet access but the further away from the main reception you are, the weaker the signal is, so I would recommend buying one hour to try before committing to more.

We also enjoyed our visits to Carnac. The town is very beautiful and the beach is very good and clean. And if anyone is interested in ancient history, the region is host to the famous standing stones.”
