Cycling – the best way to get around in Holland - Al Fresco Holidays

We have been on Duinrell for quite a while now and have figured out that the best way to get around Holland is cycling! We have cycled along the coast in both directions. South to Scheveningen and North to Katwijk.

Scheveningen is a seaside town with a busy promenade full of shops, little cafes and even restaurants on the beach offering some lovely meals. For a day out you can go to Sea Life Centre, which as guest of the campsite you can get 25% discount. If you fancy trying to see Holland in a day you could take a trip to Madourodam which is a miniature town with replicas of the “must-see” buildings and attractions in Holland. This is a great day out for everyone, from young children to OAPS.

For those of you who are dare-devils, you could try the Bungee Jump off the Pier over the North Sea. Katwijk is to the north of Wassenaar and it is a lovely cycle to get there. Once in Katwijk you take a stroll along the beach or go for a picturesque 3-hour river cruise taking you up to Oostergeest, Rijnsburg & Warmond. Along this cruise you will see 21 windmills and go through lnumerous riverside towns. However, if all the cycling gets too much you can fall back on the campsite’s fun-filled Tikibad and the thrilling Theme park.
